Experienced educator and scholar Dr. Bilal Philips has written this excellent four-year high school Islamic Studies curriculum. Part three (the third year), Islamic Studies Book 3, may be used in Grade 9, 10 or 11. Following on from what is taught in Books 1 and 2, Book 3 deepens the student’s Islamic knowledge of the concept of tawheed (Islamic monotheism). The science of tafseer (explanation and commentary) is also studied more in depth, with examples given of select chapters of the Noble Qur’an. Book 3 also presents the student with detailed explanation and discussion of several important hadiths, and in the units on Islamic law (fiqh), prayer and fasting are the focus of study. Study questions at the end of every unit help the student to make use of his or her new knowledge and assess progress.
