Tarikh al-Khulafa is justly famous in Arabic, and rarely goes out of print. Abu al-Fadl Abd Ar-Rahman Jalal ad-Din As-Suyuti was born on the night of Saturday the 1st of Rajab 849 AH (October 3, 1445 CE). As-Suyuti mastered most of the traditional studies of his day, particularly those relating to knowledge ofhadith , and was the author of more than five hundred works on Quran,sunnah ,hadith ,fiqh ,seerah , and medicine. He is best remembered for his completion of thetafseer of Quran known as the Jalalayn, which had been left incomplete on the death of Jalal ad-Din al-Mahalli. He died on Thursday the 18th of Jumada al-Ula, 911 AH (October 17, 1505 CE). May Allah have mercy upon him.
