Tajweed Rules for Adults Book 2
Introduction to Part Two – Tajweed Series for Adults
All praise is due to Allah, who revealed the Noble Qur’an as a clear and perfect guide, free from any error or contradiction. It is a book of light and mercy, leading hearts from confusion to clarity and from darkness to guidance. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the most perfect example of character and conduct. He conveyed the Qur’an faithfully, taught it with wisdom, and lived it fully—so much so that our mother ʿĀ’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:
“His character was the Qur’an.”
We are pleased to present this book as part of our Tajweed Series for Adults. Our goal is to help learners improve their recitation of the Qur’an with accuracy and understanding. Tajweed is more than just correct pronunciation—it is a way to honor the words of Allah and to connect deeply with their beauty and meaning.
This book is divided into three main units:
Unit One: The Articulation Points of Letters (Makharij Al-Ḥurūf)
In this unit, learners will study where and how each Arabic letter is pronounced. Understanding the makharij (points of articulation) is essential for clear and proper recitation. This unit builds the foundation for accurate pronunciation by teaching how to use the mouth, tongue, throat, and other parts of the vocal system.
Unit Two: The Rules of Noon Sakinah and Tanween
This unit focuses on the rules that apply to the letter noon when it carries a sukoon, and to tanween. Students will learn the four rules:
⦁ Iẓhaar (Clear Pronunciation)
⦁ Iqlaab (Changing)
⦁ Idghaam (Merging)
⦁ Ikhfaa’ (Concealment)
Unit Three: An-Noon and Al-Meem Al-Mushaddadah
In the final unit, students will learn the correct way to pronounce the letters noon and meem when they have a shaddah. This includes giving these letters the proper ghunnah, which is an important feature of tajweed.
Each lesson in this book is written in a clear and simple style, with examples from the Qur’an and practical exercises. Whether you are beginning your tajweed journey or revisiting the basics, this book aims to support your goal of reciting the Qur’an as it was revealed.
May Allah make this a means of reward for all who learn and teach the Qur’an, and may He make us among those who recite His words with care, understanding, and love.
