After a field trip to the Festival of Nations, Sadiq and his classmates are inspired to host a festival celebrating their own cultures. Sadiq is excited to host a booth featuring Somali foods, games, and crafts. But when he asks his friend Owen what he might show in his booth, Owen is quiet. Owen isn't sure about his cultural heritage. Can Sadiq and his friends find a way to make sure everyone in their class has traditions to share at the festival of cultures?

About the Author and Illustrator

Siman Nuurali grew up in Kenya. She now lives in Minnesota. Siman and her family are Somali-- just like Sadiq and his family! She and her five children love to play badminton and board games together. Siman works at Children's Hospital and in her free time she enjoys writing and reading.

Christos Skaltsas, born and raised in Athens, Greece, holds a BFA in Animation from the School of Visual Arts. He worked on animated films and TV series with Sony and Paramount before transitioning to illustration for children’s books, specializing in educational schoolbooks and pre-school activity books. With experience in animation, he uses dynamic poses and mixes techniques. Inspired by Alain Gree and Hayao Miyazaki, he enjoys playing with his son, collecting vinyls, and travelling.
