Islamic Studies Level 3 (book from Weekend Learning Series), written by Mansur Ahmad and Husain A. Nuri, is ideally for children ages 7-9, who have completed the 2nd level in this same series. Students in third grade can study this book in their third or fourth year in a formal Islamic class.
The lessons in this Level 3 book gradually begin to spark the natural inquisitiveness of students in this range as they have questions about Allah, salah (prayer), the Qur’an, The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and so forth. Students, studying this book will learn about the beautiful names of Allah, understand the mercy of Allah, learn additional names of the Qur’an, and types of salah. Moreover, the authors have also reintroduced the concept of the 5-pillars of Islam with additional emphasis. Furthermore, students will learn about the Makkah and Madinah period of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, in addition to learning a short history of some of the Prophets.
The authors have thematically presented all lessons in distinct units as well as with greater detail. Five lessons in Unit 1 discuss Allah and His attributes. Unit 2 covers some important topics about our faith. Two chapters in this Unit discuss our belief in the Qur’an as well as our belief in the Prophets. Unit 3 is about our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Unit 4 discusses the life and activities of five past Prophets. Four lessons in Unit 5 discuss other topics on Islam. The final unit covers several topics on akhlaq (character) and aqidah (creed) in Islam.
